More About Me
I grew up in Northern California and Los Angeles, surrounded by artists, intellectuals, and an assortment of unconventional characters. My parents came out of the counterculture of the 1960s and 70s, so creativity and alternative ways of thinking were part of everyday life. It was a colorful, sometimes chaotic childhood that sparked an early curiosity about people, their relationships, and the contradictions that make us human.
Before becoming a therapist, I spent over 20 years as an interdisciplinary artist and educator, using theater and performance art to explore identity, relationships, and social issues through community-based and collaborative work. As a collaborative artist, I performed and exhibited work in galleries, museums, and other cultural spaces throughout the United States and internationally.
In 2014, I began Jungian analysis while exploring my creative process and adjusting to new motherhood. What began as a personal exploration grew into a deeper interest in dreams, the unconscious, and how our early experiences shape us.
My path to psychotherapy was not a direct one.
Personal experiences with grief and loss, including the death of my young son in 2018, played a part in my decision to become a therapist. My background in the arts and my experience in Jungian analysis also shaped this direction.
I came to this profession later in life, bringing with me a longstanding interest in people, their stories, and the complicated ways we relate to one another.
How I Work
My style is warm, engaged, and collaborative. I listen closely, ask questions, and share my observations. I value honesty, curiosity, and humor, and believe there's room for all three in therapy, even when we're discussing difficult things.
I work with adolescents, adults, and couples navigating anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, life transitions, and grief and profound loss, including the death of a child. I'm especially interested in working with people who want to better understand themselves and the patterns that shape their lives.
Education & Clinical Training
I hold both an MA in Applied Theater from the University of Southern California (USC), and an MA in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University, Los Angeles.
I’ve also completed a one-year certificate program in Psychoanalytic Psychology at the
Los Angeles Institute and Society for Psychoanalytic Studies (LAISPS).
During my associate-level training, I worked at the Coldwater Counseling Center under the supervision of a senior Jungian analyst, further developing my depth-oriented approach to psychotherapy.
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in California.
